About Hotel
Golden Eagle

Our story
Born from the mountains
Hotel Golden Eagle was founded with a single conviction, that the world's most remote places deserve the world's most considered hospitality.
Nestled in the sacred Tarap valley of Upper Dolpa at 3,950 metres above sea level, our lodge was built entirely by local craftsmen using traditional Newar stone-masonry and timber techniques passed down through generations. Every room, every hearth, every carved doorway tells the story of this ancient land.
Upper Dolpa remains one of the most culturally intact regions of Nepal, home to the Bon religion, ancient monasteries, and a way of life unchanged for centuries. We built Hotel Golden Eagle to honour that heritage, not disturb it. Our team is drawn entirely from the local Dolpa community, and a portion of every booking directly funds the valley's education and conservation programmes.

Guests are welcomed with the warmth of traditional Dolpo culture. Our lodge reflects the lifestyle of the high Himalayas, where hospitality is rooted in community and respect for visitors.
Community First
Our team is locally based, supporting families and farmers from villages like Dho Tarap. We prioritize local food, local guides, and community development through tourism.
Protecting the Wilderness
Located near Shey Phoksundo National Park, we follow responsible tourism and Leave No Trace principles to protect the fragile ecosystems of Upper Dolpa.
Experienced Mountain Guides
Our guides are from the Dolpa region and know the ancient trails, high passes, and cultural landmarks of Upper Dolpa better than anyone.
